Ladybacks Bats Turn On Late, Beat Boston 4-1

Coach Deifel and the LadyBacks kicked off the Razorback Invitational in a matchup against Boston U on a cold day with temps in the upper 30s first pitch was moved up to 2:30 for the first game. 

Autumn Storms took the mound for the Lady Razorbacks . Storms coming into today’s matchup 4-0 and an 0.55 ERA with 13 SO. Ali Dubois took the mound for the Terriers coming in with a 7-1 record and 0.34 ERA and 52 SO on the year.

Bats were quiet the first four innings with both teams only managing one hit combined when Marina Sylvestri doubled in the 4th inning but was stranded. 

Arkansas got a spark when Ryan Jackson hit a double to lead off the 5th inning but Arkansas couldn’t capitalize and bring her in. Top of the 6th Boston lead of with back to back singles by Caitlin Coker and Marina Sylvestri then Julia Handfield brought 1 run in on a double. Storms who started off strong was replaced byMary Haff who stopped the bleeding keeping it at 1-0 Boston midway thru the 6th.

In the bottom of the 6th Linnie Malkin hit a 2 run double to put the LadyBacks on top 2-1. Next batter DuBois throws a wild pitch scoring two more runs making it a 4-1 lead. Jenna Bloom came in for the LadyBacks in the 7th inning replacing Haff who went 1 2/3 innings of no hit softball to finish off the game.LadyBacks go on to win 4-1. Razorbacks move to 8-1.

Marry Haff gets the win and Jenna Bloom picks up the save for Arkansas. Malkin went 1-2 with 2 RBI and Ryan Jackson went 2-3. Next up for the LadyBacks is Montana tomorrow at 2:30.
